Celebration of Two Milestones
2017 marked the 185th anniversary of the founding of Saxonburg by German immigrant, Civil Engineer, and inventor John A. Roebling. Additionally, 176 years ago, Mr. Roebling received a patent on his fabrication process for the production of steel wire rope; an important step towards the construction of the Brooklyn Bridge in 1870-1883, the design of which is among Roebling's greatest achievements.
The town John Roebling founded will be celebrating these two milestones this Summer. Several events were held on Saturday, July 15:
- 10:30 AM - Celebration Parade - Main Street
- 11:30 AM - 3:00 PM - Mingle on Main Street Party
- 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM - Reception at Saxonburg Museum
- 6:00 PM - Celebration DInner at Cooper Hall
